BREAST AUGMENTATION
Breast augmentation is carried out on young women who remain virtually flat chested, on women whose breasts have shrunk after pregnancy and on those whose breasts have dropped with age. It can greatly increase the confidence of women who previously felt unattractive to the opposite sex. Confidence can be restored by the insertion of implants, which make the chest wall stick out so that the breast tissue is more prominent. Implants do not, in general interfere with breast feeding. Having breasts enlarged has become extremely fashionable during the last ten years or so. Around 9,000 women in Britain are believed to receive implants every year. 60 percent of these are for cosmetic reasons.
