A relatively common procedure done as a day case when the forward projection of the chin is increased by a graft of usually plastic which is inserted either through a mouth incision or an incision under the skin. Occasionally a more involved procedure is required where the bone is cut and advanced as a block. This is called an osteotomy. Some patients are not aware of the their small jaw until they seek surgery for a large nose . The two should be in harmony with each other i.e. a small chin can make a nose look larger
